California has 66 casinos owned and operated by 63 tribes. They range in size, from sprawling gambling meccas that could rival what you’d see anywhere around the world, to charming local community centers that you might miss driving by.

These properties may not have the national name recognition that some Las Vegas casinos have.

However, in terms of slot machines, they are just as big. If not bigger.

The Wynn Las Vegas has the most slot machines of any casino in Sin City, with 1,850. But the iconic Las Vegas Strip casino wouldn’t even crack the top 10 of California’s largest casinos with those numbers.

Here are the 10 largest California casinos, measured by number of slot machines (and table games serving as a tiebreaker).

10. Barona Resort & Casino: 2,200 slot machines

1932 Wildcat Canyon Road, Lakeside, CA 92040

About 20 miles from downtown San Diego, Barona Resort & Casino boasts 2,200 slot machines and 65 table games on a massive 340,000-square-foot gaming floor. Owned by the Barona Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians, the casino resort also offers guests a golf course and 400-room hotel, plus plenty of restaurants to choose from.

9. Sycuan Casino Resort: 2,300 slot machines

5469 Casino Way, El Cajon, CA 92019

This San Diego-area resort has a 300-room four-star hotel with a spa, retreat pool and fitness center. The casino has 2,300 slot machines, two VIP casino rooms, a bingo hall and 50 table games.

The property has seven restaurants for dining, including the popular brunch option Viewpoint Neighborhood Kitchen. Patrons can also sign up for Club Sycuan for rewards benefits when playing casino games and staying at the resort.

8. Cache Creek Casino Resort: 2,300 slot machines

1445 CA-16, Brooks, CA 95606

Cache Creek is owned and operated by the Yocha Dehe Wintuan Nation. Initially, it was a popular 1980s bingo hall. But eventually, it transformed into a massive 400,000-square-foot casino resort.

The casino has 2,300 slot machines, 150 table games, two high-limit gaming rooms and a 28-table poker room. The hotel has 200 rooms, a spa, pools and an 18-hole championship golf course. There are more than 10 dining options throughout the property in addition to room service.

7. Chumash Casino Resort: 2,400 slot machines

3400 E Highway 246, Santa Ynez, CA 93460

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Mission Indians owns and operates the Chumash Casino. The property is two decades old and features 94,000 square feet of gaming space. That includes 2,400 slot machines, table games and a 320-room hotel.

There are a plethora of dining options. Additionally, the casino has an outdoor pool and 24-hour fitness center.

6. Viejas Casino & Resort: 2,500 slot machines

500 Willos Rd, Alpine, CA 91901

This San Diego County resort features a 203-room hotel and 34 VIP suites, including a pool and lounge. The Willows Hotel & Spa recently opened as a new adult-only tower. There are another 159 VIP suites, spa, restaurants and expanded gaming area.

The main casino floor has 2,500 slot machines. Additionally, there is a bingo hall, off-track betting area, and several table game options. Many restaurants are on the property, including a buffet, cafe and the AAA Four Diamond Grove Steakhouse.

5. Graton Casino & Resort: 3,000 slot machines

288 Golf Course Drive W, Rohnert Park, CA 94928

This Northern California casino has a hotel with 200 rooms and an on-site spa and salon. Guests can enjoy an outdoor pool with cabanas, 12 restaurants and a packed schedule of concerts and live shows.

The gaming floor has weekly entertainment along with its 3,000 slot machines.

4. Thunder Valley Casino Resort: 3,400 slot machines

1200 Athens Ave, Lincoln, CA 95648

This AAA Four Diamond award-winning resort is located just outside Sacramento and features a 250,000-square-foot casino. There are 3,400 slot and video poker machines, 100 table games, and one of the largest poker rooms in Northern California.

Thunder Valley also has a 17-story hotel with 408 rooms and 46 suites. Furthermore, there is a spa, 14 restaurants and bars and an event center that seats up to 900 people. There is also an outdoor amphitheater that can hold 5,000 guests.

3. Morongo Casino Resort & Spa: 4,170 slot machines

Morongo features a casino and hotel resort with a spa, pool, nightclub and 36 holes of golf. The gaming floor holds nearly 4,200 slot machines (including 170 in the new high-limits slot room), 80 table games and two VIP rooms.

Regarding dining options, there are 11 restaurants onsite. Additionally, there is a poolside bar, cabanas and a lazy river. The Cabazon Outlets and Desert Hills Premium Outlets are located right next door.

2. Pechanga Resort Casino: 5,400 slot machines

45000 Pechanga Pkwy, Temecula, CA 92592

The resort is located in Southern California’s wine country and operated by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians. The resort is more than two decades old and is touted as one of the largest casinos on the west coast.

It has more than 200,000 square feet of gaming space with about 5,400 slot machines. The hotel has 1,090 rooms and boasts a 25,000-square-foot spa. It also has a 40,000-square-foot events center to host conventions and concerts.

1. Yaamava Resort & Casino: 7,000 slot machines

The top spot on the list goes to Yaamava Resort & Casino. The Southern California casino features a 17-story hotel with 432 rooms, a pool, spa and salon.

The casino floor is home to a whopping 7,000 slot machines, five high-limit rooms and a “stay and play” experience to guests. There are many restaurants, bars and lounges in addition to 24-hour in-room dining.
