If you need another reason to get off I-10 between Los Angeles and Palm Springs, Morongo Casino Resort & Spa has one.
The luxury casino and resort in Cabazon celebrated the ribbon cutting of its new high-limit slots room last week. Morongo tribal leaders and officials led the opening ceremony, open to invited VIP members.
The room opened to the public after the ceremony concluded, and its official grand opening takes place on Friday, Oct. 6.
Grand opening kicks off a month of giveaways
Friday’s grand opening will award $100,000 in cash prizes and a Lucid Air Pure, a luxury electric car. Players who earn points beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 6 are eligible for 8 p.m. drawings, where 10 players will win $10K in cash, and one grand prize winner will drive home in a new vehicle.
The celebrations continue on Saturday, Oct. 7, when two Morongo Rewards members will be drawn every hour between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. to win up to $5,000 in cash. YouTuber Lady Luck HQ will also be on site for an invitation-only slot tournament and to engage with guests.
Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 14-29 have similar drawings but with $2,500 top prizes.
New room a part of the 2020 expansion
Morongo’s new salon elevates the standard for high-limit players at Southern California casinos, providing an upscale environment that the casino expanded into the valet parking lot. The room features 170 of the newest available slot machines with denominations between $1 and $100 and will offer players exclusive promotions not available outside the high-limit area.
Simon Farmer, executive director of marketing at Morongo, said during the project’s groundbreaking in April that it was something the casino had been looking forward to building “for some time now.” It was a part of the planned 2020 expansion that included dining additions like Wahlburgers, The Marketplace by Fabio Viviani and Ruffled Feathers hot chicken restaurant.
“This is just another effort to deliver a four-diamond SoCal experience to our guests and, in this case, our high-limit slot guests,” Farmer said. “This is a great offering for the high-limit VIP player looking for an experience akin to what they would see in Las Vegas resorts.”
“It’s a whole new ambiance that should deliver a discerning experience for that high-limit guest,” he added.
The new area includes a bar with bar-top gaming and an exclusive high-limit drink menu. Players will also have access to game-side dining service.
Morongo continues to grow and evolve
Expansion has been a constant in Morongo’s recent history. Its 2020 expansion came on the heels of another expansion project that added 800 slot machines to a remodeled and redesigned gaming floor, opened the Crystal Hearts Bar and renovated all of its 310 hotel rooms inside its 27-story resort tower.
Currently, Morongo is the third-largest casino in California.
And even though California online gambling remains illegal, Morongo has worked to integrate the digital world into its retail casino experience. It launched a new app on Sept. 1, available at both the App Store and Google Play, and includes a wayfinder tool that allows players to find their favorite slot machines and table games inside the casino.
The app also allows players to earn and check rewards, access exclusive discounts and presale concert tickets, and book rooms, poolside casitas, spa treatments and dining reservations.
In September, Aristocrat Gaming revealed that the casino was one of three in California to get new NFL-themed machines.
It also allows Morongo, a AAA four-diamond resort, to continue standing out from the competition in an industry where all the most prominent players stay on top of cutting-edge technologies.
