Remember that cool, slightly rebellious website where you could trade on anything from elections to NBA finals? That was Polymarket, until it vanished from the US a few years back. However, I recently got myself on the waitlist for the new, fully regulated Polymarket US app.

In this review, I’ll walk you through what I’ve learned from the re-launch announcements, for instance, whether there are promo codes or welcome bonuses to expect, and how the new version compares to prediction market giants like Kalshi.

Polymarket overall ratings | 4.0/5 ⭐

Polymarket earns a 4.0 out of 5 stars for its innovative take on prediction markets and the unique experience it offers compared to traditional wagering sites. Its biggest strength is the market-driven pricing model, which allows users to trade based on real-world outcomes with odds that shift in response to supply and demand.

The primary drawbacks stem from accessibility and maturity issues. The US app is still rolling out via invitation, which limits adoption and makes a full evaluation difficult. There’s also a learning curve for users unfamiliar with prediction markets, and liquidity can be inconsistent in smaller or niche markets. Overall, Polymarket shows strong potential and innovation, but its unfinished rollout and usability hurdles keep it from a higher score.

Since the new US app is still rolling out via invitation, this is my best (educated) guess based on what they’ve promised and the rocky-but-exciting history of its global sibling.

Welcome offer at Polymarket | 4.0/5 ⭐

Polymarket has rolled out a brand new “Deposit $20, Get $50 Trading Bonus” offer for new sign-ups. Simply use the Polymarket promo code PLAYCA when signing up to claim the offer. Instead, Polymarket also features a unique system that rewards you for being an active part of the market.

Polymarket welcome offer: How it works

Use the Polymarket promo code PLAYCA to claim a special “Deposit $20, Get $50 Trading Bonus” when you sign up. Users can also earn ongoing rewards like these:

  • Liquidity Rewards: You can earn a cut of the tiny fees by adding your funds to a market, helping others trade. It’s for more experienced users, but it turns trading into a two-way street.
  • The Real Perk is the Fee: Their headline is a trading fee of around 0.01%. On a $100 trade, that’s about one penny. If you trade frequently, keeping almost all your profit is better than receiving a one-time bonus.

Polymarket welcome offer: How it compares

This difference in philosophy is evident when examining the US market leader.

Ongoing promotions and rewards at Polymarket

  • Earning Yield on Contracts: In the past, they’ve offered ways to earn yield on long-term contracts. This is a niche but clever way to reward patience.
  • The $POLY Token: For years, there has been talk of a platform token, and in October 2025, Polymarket CMO Matthew Modabber confirmed its existence, with an expected release in 2026.
  • Integrations: Their work with platforms like X (formerly Twitter) suggests unique, social media-driven markets in the future.

How to sign up at Polymarket

I found the official website, entered my US phone number into the waitlist form, and got a confirmation text. That’s it. No app download yet, no account creation.

You wait for an invite. When it comes, be ready to verify your identity fully with a driver’s license, SSN, and the whole process. The anonymous trading of the past is essentially a thing of the past in the U.S.

How Polymarket compares: It’s not the polished, complete product Kalshi is today. Kalshi wins for immediate variety and ease of use. But Polymarket is banking on a powerful one-two punch: keep more of your money with low fees, and eventually let you trade on virtually anything.

That said, Polymarket is growing fast, and it has much greater liquidity than newer platforms like Gemini. It’s undoubtedly an intriguing challenger.

Polymarket app and website experience | 4.2/5 ⭐

Jumping back into Polymarket, even just through the waitlist portal, felt familiar. The company hasn’t lost its knack for clean design. But how does it shape up on your device?

Polymarket app review (iOS & Android)

From previews and my memory of the global version, the app has always been its strongest asset. It’s built for clarity. You see a list of markets with their current “Yes” and “No” prices shifting in real-time. Tapping any market brings up a simple trading screen. You choose your position and set a price, just like a stock trading app.

A feature I always loved is the integrated wallet. You don’t have to go through a third-party crypto site; you can fund your account directly in the app using a card through MoonPay. It makes the crypto step feel less daunting.

The big caveat is that they’re launching with the Polymarket iOS app first. If you’re on Android, you’re currently limited to using the website, which is a significant setback for a platform aiming for mainstream US adoption, I think.

Polymarket desktop site design and navigation

When you can’t use the app or prefer a larger screen, the desktop site is your go-to. It mirrors the app’s clean, uncluttered feel. Finding your way around is intuitive. The main navigation is straightforward, featuring a “Markets” tab for browsing everything, a “Portfolio” section to track your trades, and an account funding area.

For US users, geolocation is key. The site needs to verify your location to comply with state laws. In my tests, this process was seamless. It ran in the background without requiring any extra steps from me. This is an area where Polymarket’s tech feels mature.

Trading markets at Polymarket | 4.0/5 ⭐

It’s basically where Polymarket’s soul was born. The promise has always been “markets on everything,” and walking through its categories is like browsing a news feed where you can have a stake in every headline.

Sports Markets:

This is the safe starting point for the US relaunch. You’ll find major leagues like the NFL and NBA. But this isn’t a sportsbook with hundreds of prop bets. It’s focused on core outcomes: “Will Team X win?”

Politics & Current Events:

Another of Polymarket’s legendary arenas. Here, you’re not just following the news, but trading on it. Markets respond to elections, Supreme Court decisions, and primary legislation, where the platform feels most alive. The price moves with every poll, speech, or breaking scandal. It turns being informed into a tangible skill.

Crypto & Finance:

Naturally, given its roots, the crypto market is deep. You can trade on Bitcoin price thresholds or regulatory decisions. However, it extends beyond that to broader financial aspects, such as Federal Reserve interest rate adjustments. It serves as a bridge between cryptocurrency culture and traditional finance.

Pop Culture & “Everything Else”:

This is the fun part. Will a certain movie top the box office? Who will win the Oscar? I’ve even seen markets on video game release dates or tech product launches. This “everything else” category is what makes Polymarket feel like a global town square for speculation.

Banking: Funding your account and withdrawing at Polymarket | 3.8/5 ⭐

This is the part that trips up most new users, so let’s be crystal clear. You cannot simply use a debit card to trade on Polymarket. All transactions happen in USDC, a cryptocurrency stablecoin pegged to the US dollar.

MethodFundingMinimum / TimeWithdrawalsMinimum / Time
Credit/Debit Card (Visa or Mastercard via MoonPay)Varies (+4.5% fee) / InstantVaries / 1-3 days
CryptoVaries (+ fee) / 5-20 MinutesVaries / 5-20 minutes
Bank Transfer✅ (via MoonPay)$100 / 1-5 business days
Apple Pay
Venmo✅ (via MoonPay)Varies / 1-5 hours
Paypal✅ (via MoonPay)Varies / 1-5 hours
Skrill

The bottom line: The funding is not instant or fee-free, unlike some traditional platforms. You pay a premium for the convenience of using a specific card. If you plan to trade regularly, it’s worth learning how to use a standard crypto exchange like Coinbase to buy USDC with lower fees, then transfer it. It’s an extra hoop, but it’s the trade-off for accessing Polymarket’s unique, low-fee trading world.

Remember, you can typically only withdraw back to a method you used to fund your account, so keep that in mind.

Is Polymarket safe? | Licensing and fair play information

Is the platform safe? The short answer is yes, but with significant caveats. The new Polymarket US is building its foundation on a $112 million acquisition.

They bought a small, regulated entity called QCEX to obtain a license from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This means the US platform is legally a regulated exchange, which brings a level of oversight the old, global version never had.

Polymarket is currently available in these US states: AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV & WY.

Site security and data protection

On a technical level, your funds and data are secured by industry-standard practices. The platform uses encryption and secure protocols. However, the more critical safety question for a prediction market isn’t just about hackers, but about a fair resolution of trades. This is where Polymarket’s history raises eyebrows.

The platform uses a system called the UMA Optimistic Oracle to decide market outcomes. After an event, outcomes can be proposed and, if disputed, are voted on by UMA token holders. This is the core of the “trust problem” you’ll read about in user reviews. Critics argue that wealthy individuals or groups could amass enough tokens to manipulate a vote, especially in smaller markets.

While the system has economic safeguards to penalize bad actors, the perception of risk has damaged trust. For the new US platform, this is its most significant challenge. The CFTC oversight will likely force them to modify this process heavily for US markets. While they have transitioned to a new “Managed Optimistic Oracle V2” (MOOV2) process, they may still rely on official sources, such as the Associated Press, for final rulings on significant events.

Polymarket customer support | 3.5/5 ⭐

If there’s one area where the more negative aspects of Polymarket’s reputation are deserved, it’s their customer support. The global platform’s support is primarily digital: you can submit a request through a form on their website or seek help in their Discord community.

When I had a question about waitlist timing, I used the contact form. I received an automated confirmation email, but a substantive reply took over 72 hours to arrive. The answer was generic and pointed me back to the public FAQ page. For more complex issues, like a disputed trade or a withdrawal problem, this delay would be incredibly frustrating.

There is no live chat or phone support for direct, real-time help. This places the burden entirely on asynchronous email and community forums. In their Discord, some experienced users attempt to help newcomers, but the process is chaotic and unofficial.

Kalshi, by contrast, offers responsive live chat. There’s no question that Polymarket’s US launch team must build up competent, accessible support from the ground up to win over skeptical users.

Polymarket Reviews | What others are saying

Don’t just take my word for it. The user reviews paint a vivid, polarized picture. On the Apple App Store, the global app holds a rating of around 4.0 stars. Positive reviews rave about the concept, the unique markets, and the clean interface. You’ll see comments like, “The only app where my news addiction pays off,” or, “Brilliant concept, love trading on politics.”

However, dive into the critical reviews, and you’ll find a consistent, alarming theme. On Trustpilot and Reddit, the sentiment plummets. The platform has very low scores (often around 1.5 stars) on these sites, dominated by stories of terrible experiences. The complaints aren’t about minor bugs, but come from core trust and functionality issues.

  • Disputed Resolution Nightmares: Countless users share stories of winning trades being disputed and sent to the UMA oracle vote, resulting in losses they feel are unjust. “Won a trade fair and square, then a whale disputed it and the vote overturned it,” is a common refrain.
  • Withdrawal Hell: The single most common complaint is about painfully slow or stuck withdrawals. Users report waiting weeks for funds, with support providing no timeline or help.
  • Ghosted Support: The lack of timely and helpful customer service exacerbates every other issue.

The takeaway: The reviews show a platform with a brilliant product and a broken service model. People love what Polymarket does, but a significant portion deeply distrusts how it operates. The new US entity’s success hinges entirely on fixing this legacy.

Polymarket FAQs

Yes, but understand the distinction. The new Polymarket US is a CFTC-regulated exchange, making it a legal, legitimate platform. The older, global site (poly.market) operates in a less regulated international space.

The markets are generally accurate reflections of crowd sentiment, often beating polls. However, “accuracy” can be compromised if a market’s outcome is disputed and voted on by token holders, rather than settled based on clear, real-world facts.

Primarily through tiny fees on its fiat-to-crypto gateway (like MoonPay’s 1-4.5% charge when you buy USDC). Their trading fees are near-zero (~0.01%) to attract volume. They may also earn from data services or future products.

This is a separate, free feature on their site where you can vote on event probabilities without risking money. It’s a great way to get a feel for how the prediction markets work and see community sentiment.

The new Polymarket US platform aims to be available in most U.S. states following its regulatory approval. The global site (poly.market) is accessible from many other countries but is explicitly blocked for US-based users.

For the US platform, support is available through email and a help desk system. For the global site, it’s primarily via a contact form on their website and their Discord community channel. Live phone support is not available.

Conclusion: a high-stakes Polymarket comeback story

My overall impression of Polymarket is that it’s the most fascinating, frustrating, and high-potential player in prediction markets. It’s not the polished, user-friendly gateway that Kalshi is. Instead, it’s a raw, ambitious platform that offers something truly unique: the ability to trade on virtually any future event at almost zero cost.

For the right person, perhaps a crypto-comfortable, independent trader who values low fees above all and is fascinated by niche markets, Polymarket is unparalleled. Getting on the US waitlist is a no-brainer to see if they’ve fixed their fatal flaws.

However, for the average user who values reliability, clear customer service, and simplicity in banking above sheer market variety, the current experience is a gamble. The platform carries the baggage of its own controversial history. Until they prove their new US operation is trustworthy, many will rightly be cautious.

If you try Polymarket and decide you prefer a more established, user-protective environment, that’s a wise choice. In that case, don’t forget to use a Kalshi promo code when you sign up to get their straightforward welcome bonus while you explore a more settled corner of the prediction world.
