Red Hawk Resort & Casino in Placerville has opened The Apex, an 80,000-square-foot entertainment center that expands the property beyond its main casino floor.
According to the source report, the new venue includes a virtual reality arcade, indoor go-karting, golf simulators and an 18-lane bowling alley. The go-kart track, developed by 360 Karting, runs nearly a quarter mile, while the golf simulators were built by Golfzon.
The property has also opened Apex Grill, a sports bar inside the new complex. The report says the bar features video poker machines on its bar tops.
Red Hawk Casino CEO Bryan deLugo said the goal of the project is to give families more entertainment options. That makes The Apex a notable addition for a California casino market where properties often compete on dining, events and non-gaming amenities as well as gambling options.
Red Hawk’s existing casino offering includes more than 2,100 slot machines, table games such as blackjack, pai gow, baccarat and poker variants, plus a high-limit poker room. The property also offers live entertainment and several dining venues, including Henry’s Steakhouse, Koto Buffet, Pearl Asian Cuisine and The Burger Spot.
For players, the key point is that this is an on-property entertainment expansion rather than a change to California gambling law. The report notes there is no retail sportsbook at Red Hawk because sports wagering remains prohibited in the state. It also points to the defeat of California’s 2022 sports betting ballot measures, with Prop 26 rejected by 67% of voters and Prop 27 rejected by 82.28%.
One detail in the source remains unclear: it says a 150-room hotel was planned for Red Hawk and expected to be completed in early 2023, but it does not confirm the project’s current status.
