Kalshi has threatened Netflix with legal action over a trailer for the documentary _The Prediction Games_, arguing that it falsely suggests trades were made on the platform in Nevada in violation of a court order.
According to Deadline, Kalshi sent Netflix a cease-and-desist letter ahead of the documentary’s scheduled Sunday premiere. The dispute centers on footage showing traders celebrating Kalshi earnings in Las Vegas around the recent World Cup final, which Kalshi says creates the impression that users were placing sports-related trades from Nevada after the company had been ordered to block those markets there.
Kalshi’s lawyers said the trailer contains “misleading statements portraying trades being made on Kalshi in violation of a court order.” The company said it is complying with the order that followed a lawsuit brought by the Nevada Gaming Commission.
Netflix disputed that characterization. Per the report, the company said the most prominent trade shown in the trailer was placed in 2025, before the court order referenced by Kalshi. Kalshi also alleged that a screenshot shown in the trailer was “fabricated,” saying it includes terms such as “bet slip” that do not appear on its site.
The clash adds another public dispute to the broader fight over how prediction markets are regulated in the U.S. Deadline noted that Kalshi is not legally classified as a gambling platform and is instead regulated more like a commodity trading business, even as multiple states have pursued legal action tied to gaming-law enforcement.
