Boyd Gaming Corporation has announced its Q2 earnings, and the numbers exceeded expectations.
The company reported $916.9 million in revenue and earnings per share of $1.58 for Q2 2023.
Boyd Gaming has a strong California connection, as it operates the Sky River Casino in the Sacramento area for the Wilton Rancheria Tribe.
California ties helping Boyd’s success
According to the company, in the second quarter of 2023, Boyd Gaming had a return on equity of 43.15%, and a net margin of 18.48%. The company trades on the New York Stock Exchange as BYD.
Last August, Boyd helped the Wilton Rancheria Tribe open its new casino in Elk Grove, nearby Sacramento, ahead of schedule. The casino features 100,000 square feet of gaming space, with 2,000 slot machines and 80 table games.
Future development to Sky River Casino could be in store down the road, as Boyd owns another piece of land adjacent to the existing property.
The Wilton Rancheria Tribe is one of 50 California tribes belonging to the California Nations Indian Gaming Association. The CNIGA is a non-profit organization made up of federally recognized tribal governments that is dedicated to defending Indian gaming on federally recognized Indian territories.
Also in 2022, Boyd Gaming paid $170 million for a gaming company owned by The Pala Band of Mission Indians. That asset, called Pala Interactive Gaming Tech, had produced hundreds of gaming titles for online casino apps in other states and Canada. With the purchase, Boyd Gaming diversified its holdings in the industry.
