Kalshi prediction markets have attracted $1.4 million in volume across contracts tied to future technology and geopolitical events, with some of the heaviest activity centered on AI IPO timing, Moon missions and political succession questions.

For readers who follow prediction markets, the takeaway is straightforward: these contracts are being used as a real-money gauge of sentiment on long-range events, even when the underlying outcomes are years away.

AI IPO markets are among the most active

One of the more notable markets gives an 83% probability that OpenAI or Anthropic will IPO before 2040. A separate market on which company will go public first has handled $168.4K in volume.

Those figures stand out because they show sustained interest in AI commercialization, not just short-term product launches. The source frames these markets as a speculative barometer for how traders see the future of major AI companies.

Moon and Mars contracts show strong space-market interest

Space-related questions are also drawing meaningful volume on Kalshi. In the market on which country will next send humans to the Moon before 2031, contracts tied to a U.S. landing have generated $79.0K in volume, while China-related contracts have seen $46.1K.

Another market gives Blue Origin a 62% probability of beating SpaceX to land an uncrewed craft on the Moon before 2030, with $90.9K traded.

On Mars, the probabilities are more cautious. The market on humans colonizing Mars before 2050 sits at 21%, with $23.5K in volume. A separate contract on SpaceX landing anything on Mars before 2030 has taken $84.6K in volume and implies a 26% chance. There is also $51.5K in volume on whether a humanoid robot will walk on Mars before a human does before 2035.

One of the bluntest markets concerns Elon Musk personally: a contract on whether he will visit Mars in his lifetime before 2099 has seen $115.1K in volume, with 91% on “No.”

Geopolitical markets extend beyond tech speculation

Kalshi’s lineup also reaches into politics and international affairs. The market on who will succeed Netanyahu as prime minister of Israel before 2045 has Gadi Eisenkot leading at 60%. In Ukraine, the market points to a 72% chance of a presidential election before 2030, with $12.4K in volume on a 2027 election.

Other contracts mentioned by the source include the next NATO secretary general, where Alexander Stubb is at 25%, as well as markets tied to the Super Ballon d’Or and CO2 atmospheric concentration levels before 2030.

What to watch next: the source does not provide a methodology for how Kalshi probabilities were calculated or whether the figures were captured at a single moment or updated continuously. That means the numbers are best read as a snapshot of market pricing at the time referenced in the report, not a fixed forecast.
