Hope springs eternal on the USC campus, though, where the Trojans could be huge betting favorites if legalized and regulated sports betting in California becomes a reality. It has yet to gain traction, though, so the wait continues.

How to bet on USC basketball games online
California doesn’t have legal and regulated sports betting just yet. The best sportsbooks in the country are waiting for the sports betting measures to pass before they can come to California.
However, anyone who wants to bet on USC basketball right now can make the trip to one of California’s three neighboring states. Nevada, Arizona, and Oregon all have legal and regulated sports betting.
You can even download top sports betting apps in Arizona and Oregon from right here in California, sign up for an account and make a deposit. You won’t be able to bet from inside California, but you’ll be ready to as soon as you cross the state line. Here’s how:
- Head over to the DraftKings Sportsbook website for Arizona or Oregon;
- Download and install the DraftKings app via the download link specific to your device;
- Enter your personal and account information on the registration form;
- Accept all terms and conditions;
- Deposit money in your account using a credit or debit card, online banking or third-party payment processors like PayPal;
- Browse through the USC betting markets, but remember you’ll have to go out of state to place a bet (as of now).
Basic USC game lines
A typical set of USC vs. UCLA game lines might look something like this:
Moneyline | Spread | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
USC | +270 | +7.5 (-110) | Over 136.5 (-110) |
UCLA | -350 | -7.5 (-110) | Under 136.5 (-110) |
If DraftKings Sportsbook shows the moneyline as listed above, picking the favored Bruins team requires you to bet $350 to win $100 (plus your bet back). However, betting on the underdog Trojans moneyline will require a bet of only $100 to win $270 (plus your bet back).
Moving on, if BetMGM Sportsbook California listed the above spread, UCLA has to win by eight or more to cover. USC can win or lose by fewer than eight to cover the point spread. The -110 odds on either bet pays winners $100, plus their bet back, for every $110 bet.
Finally, if FanDuel Sportsbook shows the totals line as listed above, the over comes in with 137 total points or more. Meanwhile, the under wins with 136 total points or fewer. Again, the -110 odds on either bet pay winners $100, plus their bet back, for every $110 bet.

USC March Madness history
USC has appeared in 20 NCAA tournaments.
The Trojans made the Final Four in 1940 and 1958. However, USC’s deepest runs since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985 were to the Elite Eight in 2001 and 2021. Both times, USC was a No. 6 seed and lost to a No. 1 seed in the Elite Eight.
USC has never been higher than a No. 2 seed in the tournament. That was in 1992 when USC lost to No. 7 Georgia Tech by a single point in the Round of 32. USC’s deepest run as a higher seed came in 2017 when they won a First Four game, entered the tournament as a No. 11 seed and then beat No. 6 SMU before losing to No. 3 Baylor in the Round of 32.

USC basketball live betting
When online sports betting eventually comes to California, the top sportsbook apps will open up live NCAA basketball betting odds. This will allow you to bet on or against the Trojans in the middle of games at odds that are constantly adjusted based on the unfolding action.
Live odds change fast. So fast that sportsbook apps are the best way to get a bet down before they change again. Until these apps launch in California, you’ll have to visit Nevada, Arizona or Oregon to live-bet USC games.
Just remember to keep your eye on the changing odds. The DraftKings Sportsbook app might have USC as +200 moneyline underdogs against the Arizona Wildcats before a hypothetical game. But when the Trojans take a two-point lead early in the second half, the live odds on USC will be closer to even money.
If USC then pushes the lead to double digits late in the game, the odds will take a massive nosedive. By then, you’ll likely have to lay a significant amount of cash just to win a little.

- #10 Gus Williams
