Jason Somerville’s Run It Up Series Headed To California

Run It Up and founder Team PokerStars Pro Jason Somerville‘s personal fun-first brand of poker is coming to California next month.

Stones Gambling Hall in Citrus Heights is set to host the first-ever Run It Up Poker Festival outside of Reno, Nevada beginning Dec. 5 and running through Dec. 9.

Somerville and his band of merry Twitch poker streamers just wrapped up Run It Up Reno VII at the end of October. The group has now decided to take a condensed version of the fun-first poker festival to California and Stones.

The Run It Up Stones schedule features a $1,080 Thursday Thrilla Bounty and a $600 Main Event. Plus, various satellites and even-more affordable buy-in events surround these two larger tournaments.

Run It Up Reno

Somerville’s Run It Up Reno events have run twice a year for the past few. The events generally attract fans of various Run It Up Twitch streamers, the online and live poker streamers themselves, and reality TV celebrities including Survivor stars “Boston Rob Mariano and Tyson Apostol.

The Peppermill Reno-based festivals traditionally feature low and mid-stakes events and poker variants that look to put fun first. Run It Up Stones should feature more of all of that despite the condensed schedule.

According to PokerNews, Somerville first visited Stones to help the cardroom launch its StonesLive streams. He returned to help provide commentary on the stream when the PokerStars Moneymaker PSPC Tour visited the Sacramento-area cardroom in August.

Management has been trying to convince him to bring a version of the Run It Up poker festival to the property ever since.

Now that its lobbying has proved successful, Run It Up Stones will get rolling with a Run It Up Stones Welcome Party on Wednesday, Dec. 5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event will be hosted by Somerville and Team Run It Up video blogger Andrew Neeme.

The Run It Up Stones schedule

The entire six-event, five-day schedule includes the following list of events:

Stones had already planned to host its fourth annual Chip in for Charity event to raise money for the Lilliput charity and its local foster child programs. Somerville and Run It Up have now adopted the event as part of its schedule. Stones management believes the group’s involvement could help almost double the $5,000 the event has raised annually.

Stones had also planned to kick off its popular six-day $100,000 guaranteed Quantum tournament on Monday, Dec. 10. Stones management believes its popularity will only be boosted by Run It Up Stones running right up to the day before the first flight.

Much of the action will be streamed live on the runitup.tv Twitch channel throughout the series.
