Readers of the Southern California Gaming Guide have chosen Pechanga Resort & Casino as their favorite California casino resort and poker room.
Voters also picked the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians-owned and -operated Temecula Valley casino resort Best Casino Resort in the monthly casino and slot guide’s Reader’s Choice 2018 Best Casino awards. Additionally, Pechanga took top honors in the Best Poker category.
Voting took place in August. The Southern California Gaming Guide announced first, second, and third-place winners in 17 casino categories on Oct. 4.
Tens of thousands of ballots cast
Publisher Theon B. Cross said in a release that tens of thousands of ballots were cast:
“California has the largest number of Indian casinos in the country, and many of the best are in Southern California. Every year for the past 15 years, we invite readers to choose the Best Casinos in Southern California. All readers are casino players in Southern California’s 24 Indian casinos. This year they cast tens of thousands of ballots online for their favorites.”
The Southern California Gaming Guide has published all the results in its October issue. The publication is available for free at over 3,500 locations in Southern California. It can also be found online.
Additionally, the San Diego Area’s Harrah’s Resort Southern California was chosen for Best Casino.
Then, Valley View Casino & Hotel took the top spot in the Loosest Slots Casino category. Readers picked Sycuan Casino as Luckiest Casino.
Southern California’s best casinos and poker rooms
Pechanga Resort & Casino opened in 2002 as the largest resort and casino on the West Coast with 200,000 square feet of gaming space.
More recently, the property completed a 27-month, $300 million expansion. The expansion doubled hotel capacity and added resort amenities, including a spa, events center, and tropical pool complex. The poker room at Pechanga Resort & Casino features 54 tables spreading a variety of cash games and tournaments.
The 59,000-square-foot casino at Harrah’s Resort Southern California features more than 1,700 slots and 60 table games. Additionally, Harrah’s Resort Southern California features a poker room spreading live Texas Hold’em cash games and tournaments.
The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians owns the former Harrah’s Rincon Indian casino. Caesars Entertainment Corporation is the casino operator.
The casino at Valley View Casino & Hotel in Valley Center features what it calls 2,000 Certified Loose slot machines.
Players can get lucky on any of the more than 2,000 slots and 40 table games at Sycuan Casino in the San Diego area. Sycuan also offers bingo and a 17-table poker room with cash game and tournament action.
