The online social poker room is hosting an event called the Rattlesnake Open III until May 25, and it’s free to start playing. Sure, the felt is virtual, and the money is made up of Sweeps Coins and Gold Coins, but it won’t cost you a dime to play, and you won’t need to practice your charm or poker face prior to saddling up to the table.
The tournament, which began May 3, will conclude with a Tournament of Champions on May 31. The prize at the end of it all? One lucky Sweeps Coins card player will take home the grand prize of a $5,000 package to represent Global Poker in a live tournament of the player’s choice.

How does Global Poker work?
Global Poker is open to players in the United States and Canada who are 18 or older. The sweepstakes poker site allows players to participate for free using Gold Coins, a virtual currency.
Players can choose to purchase additional Gold Coins, which in turn provides them with Sweeps Coins as a bonus. Sweeps Coins can be used to play in additional tournaments or other games, and are redeemable for cash prizes or gift cards.
Is Global Poker legal in California?
Because Global Poker is built on a sweepstakes model instead of one using “real money,” they are not only completely legal in the Golden State, but also throughout the entire US.
The way it works: When you make a deposit your money goes toward Gold Coins. Equivalent to the Gold Coins is a currency known as Sweeps Coins. Sweeps Coins are available for free after users purchase Gold Coins.
Rattlesnake Open offers plenty of games to play
The series has nightly events for every level of play ranging from low buy-ins to high. Additionally, there will be several main events for both Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins players on May 24.
